A Fantastic Time at our Women’s Coffee Mornings

We’re excited to share that our Women’s Coffee Mornings have been a huge success! Over 30 women regularly attend, ranging in ages from 30 to 60, enjoying a fun, relaxed atmosphere filled with good conversation and new friendships.

Attendees were treated to delicious snacks, tea, and coffee, and we ensured that transportation was provided for elderly and disabled guests, making it easy for everyone to join the fun. It was wonderful to see such a diverse group of women come together to share stories, laughter, and a sense of community.

But don’t worry if you missed it – the next one is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for the next Women’s Coffee Morning on October 24th at the LSC Community Hub.

Come for a cuppa, a chat, and to enjoy mind & body wellness workshops, games, and activities. It’s the perfect way to unwind and make new friends!

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to welcoming more of you soon!

LSC Community Hub

Leftley Sports Club are pleased to announce that we were successful in our bid to lease the ground floor community space at Martin Peters Court.

The new community space will enable LSC to be known for more than its outdoor activities. The indoor space will enhance the club’s capacity to offer a range of community development activities for all ages.

We are also planning to make the community space available to local organisations, groups and individual residents for hire with our aim of making it a multi-functional community space.

Leftley Sports Club hosts Dementia Friends Awareness Session

LBTV

The Leftley Sports Club in Barking & Dagenham have teamed up with a local women’s empowerment and education group to deliver a community Dementia awareness programme.

The session at the Hedgecock Community Centre was chaired and hosted by Zoinul Abidin and attendees included Aruba Zuhra and Kalam Sheikh.

Also in attendance were Leftley Sports Club management members Anwar Hussain and Aktar Ahmed. Dr Noor Jahan from LSC commented, “It’s important for us to recognise basic symptoms and take medical advice so that support can be provided at all stages of a person’s dementia journey.”

Leftley Sports Club Chairman Muhammed Ali added, “Leftley Sports Club is committee to promoting health in the community. Our free programmes are inclusive and encourage participation of all members of our community regardless of age, background and health.”

There was a productive presentation from former Police Officer and life coach Randal Porter and the Dementia Friends awareness session was delivered by Dementia Friends Champion Emdad Rahman.

What is a Dementia Friend?

A Dementia Friend is somebody that learns about dementia so they can help their community.

Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. Dementia Friends help by raising awareness and understanding, so that people living with dementia can continue to live in the way they want.

What does a Dementia Friend do?

Dementia Friends help people living with dementia by taking actions – both big and small.

These actions don’t have to be time-consuming. From visiting someone you know with dementia to being more patient in a shop queue, every action counts! Dementia Friends can also get involved with things like volunteering, campaigning or wearing a badge to raise awareness.
